Detailed Itinerary

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Paro to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital. En route, visit Tamchoe Lhakhang, a sacred 15th-century temple founded by the great iron bridge builder, Tangtong Gyalpo. After crossing an old suspension bridge, enjoy a short 15-minute hike up to the temple. Inside, you’ll find images of Buddha Shakyamuni, Avalokiteshvara (the Compassionate One), and Guru Padmasambhava. Explore the temple’s three levels, including the Genkhang (protector deity chamber) and the upper floors featuring Avalokiteshvara and Dewa Zangpo. Don’t miss the chance to see one of Bhutan’s oldest iron chain bridges nearby.

Today, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Thimphu Tshechu, one of Bhutan’s grandest festivals. Locals gather dressed in their finest traditional attire, often handwoven and brightly colored. You’ll witness sacred masked dances, cultural performances, and rituals performed by monks in elaborate costumes. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience Bhutan’s living traditions and community spirit.

After breakfast, begin your drive to Punakha, making a stop at Semtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest fortress and monastery. If you’re lucky, you may hear monks chanting prayers inside its historic halls. The journey continues through the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100m), where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped Eastern Himalayas and the iconic 108 chortens (stupas) that adorn the pass.

Retrace your route back to Paro via Thimphu, enjoying the serene Bhutanese countryside along the way. Reflect on your experiences as you pass back through Dochula Pass and prepare for the next stage of your cultural journey.

Tiger’s Nest Monastery is a hike for 5 – 6 Hours hike uphill. It is challenging hike for most of the hikers and might take whole day also. However Tiger’s nest Hike is always worth a Trip because it is not only historical, but also it is equally iconic and breathtaking monuments.
