Flight to Paro international Airport in Bhutan itself is one of the most beautiful flight routes over the majestic Himalayas like Mount Everest and areal view of the whole eastern Himalaya Ranges. Landing at Paro  is yet another experience. Paro International Airport is one of the calmest and peaceful airport in the world where none of other international flights are allowed except Bhutan Airlines and Druk Air, The Royal Bhutan Airlines

Our expert Himalayan Guides will greet you at the airport with the short introduction of the day. We will start our dive than to Thimphu – The capital city of Bhutan, smallest, cleanest city, without traffic lights yet no car honking!

Depending on our flight arrival time, we will enjoy a breathtaking photography session at Tamchoe Zam, Bhutan’s oldest suspension bridge, dating back to the 15th century.

After breakfast in the morning, we will visit the towering statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, one of the largest Buddha Statues in the world. This impressive bronze statue is covered in gold, symbolizing indestructibility, and is located on a hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park.

Later, we will head to the Takin Preserve on the outskirts of Thimphu Valley, home to Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin. This unique creature, with the head of a goat and the body of a cow, is said to have been created by the legendary Lama Divine Madman.

In the evening, we will take a leisurely stroll around the main city of Thimphu. You will appreciate the tranquil atmosphere, free from car honking and traffic lights.

After breakfast, we will visit the Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 in honor of His Majesty the Third King of Bhutan. This revered monument is a spiritual hub where locals can be seen chanting prayers and spinning prayer wheels. It also offers an excellent opportunity to capture beautiful portraits of the Bhutanese people immersed in their daily rituals.

Following lunch, we will drive to Punakha, passing through the stunning Dochula Pass. If the weather is clear, we will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic, snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.

In the evening, we’ll visit the famous Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility. According to local belief, visiting this sacred site can bring blessings of fertility and wellbeing.

Overnight & Dinner: Hotel Lobesa

In the morning, we will start with a refreshing hike to Khamsum Yulley Nagayal Chorten, a stunning pagoda-style stupa funded by Her majesty The Queen Mother, Ashi Tsheing Yangdon Wangchuck, in 2004. This temple offers breathtaking views of the valley and the winding Mochu River.

We will pause for a riverside picnic lunch, and in the afternoon, we will visit the renowned Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most significant historical fortress. This magnificent structure is a fantastic opportunity to explore authentic Bhutanese Architecture and is still used for important ceremonies, including Royal Coronation and Weddings.

In the eveing, we will take a stroll to the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, connecting Sangana Village with a castle-like 17th Century fortress.

Driving Distance: 213km |Highest Point is Yotongla: 3375m ASL | Sleeping Alt: 2500m After breakfast, we will begin our scenic drive to Bumthang, traveling through Trongsa. Along the way, we’ll make several photo stops to capture the breathtaking views of majestic mountains, lush forests, and cascading waterfalls.

As we continue, the landscape transforms beautifully, with wild rhododendrons lining the route—an ever-changing display of Bhutan’s rich natural beauty, and one of the highlights of this journey.

We’ll also stop at a viewpoint to photograph the magnificent Trongsa Dzong, before resuming our drive to Bumthang in the afternoon.

In the evening, we will return for the night-time activities, including the sacred naked dances and the fire blessing. Please note that photography is strictly prohibited during the naked dance ceremony.

Overnight & Dinner: Tashi Yoezerling  

Driving Distance: 20km |Highest Point in Bumthang: 2600m ASL | Sleeping Alt: 2500m

We will visit Jakar Dzong, known as the castle of the white birds, was built in 1546. This unique architectural gem sits atop a hill, where it is believed that a group of white birds soared in four different directions, symbolizing the beginning of an era of unification. This is how the fortress earned its name.

Later today, we will have the opportunity to visit the Jambay Lhakhang Drup, the most sacred festival in Bhutan. During the day, the festival is filled with vibrant and colorful dances, offering a truly captivating experience. Just being present at this event is said to bring cleansing and good luck. It’s also a wonderful chance to interact with the locals and capture their portraits as they enjoy the festival.

Later after the festival, we will drive up to Tang Ogyencholing Heritage Palace, to see the most historical museum. On the way we will also stop for Mebartsho – The Burning Lake.

Overnight & Dinner: Ogyencholing Heritage Palace

Driving Distance: 75 km |Highest Point Yontongla: 3375m ASL | Sleeping Alt: 2850m

After breakfast, we will begin our journey to Trongsa, the ancestral home of Bhutan’s royal family. Trongsa Dzong, a majestic and historic fortress, has long stood as one of the most powerful strongholds in the country’s history.

While in Trongsa, we’ll also visit the Trongsa Museum, which houses a remarkable collection of antiques, religious art, and royal artifacts. Among its many treasures, the King’s Crown is considered the most significant and symbolic piece.

Later in the afternoon, we will explore the iconic Trongsa Dzong itself. It is within these sacred walls that the future kings of Bhutan traditionally receive the title of Choetse Penlop—a vital step before ascending the throne.

Driving Distance: 130km |Highest Point is Dochula: 3150m ASL | Sleeping Alt: 2300m

After breakfast, we will begin our journey to Wangduephodrang, with a stop at the stunning Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley known for its natural beauty and as the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes.

We’ll also enjoy a short hike along the Gangtey Nature Trail, a scenic 3.7 km walk that takes approximately 2 hours, offering peaceful views of the valley and surrounding forests.

In the afternoon, we will visit the historic Gangtey Goenpa Monastery, an important religious site built in the 15th century. If time permits, we’ll also stop at a viewpoint to admire the majestic Wangduephodrang Dzong before continuing our journey.

Driving Distance: 139km |Highest point Dochula: 3150m ASL | Sleeping Alt: 2200m

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, we will begin our drive to Paro. Upon arrival, we’ll visit the iconic Paro Rinpung Dzong, which serves as the administrative center of the Paro District and was also one of the filming locations for the movie Little Buddha.

If you’re interested, we can make a brief stop at the historic Dungtse Lhakhang along the way, known for its unique architecture and ancient murals.
In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through Paro town, taking in its charming atmosphere and local culture.

We recommend an early night tonight, as we have an exciting early start tomorrow for the hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most breathtaking and sacred sites.

Driving Distance: 17km |Highest point Tigers Nest: 3075m ASL | Sleeping Alt: 2200m

The most iconic landmark in Bhutan is the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, a revered site in Buddhism. We plan to begin our hike shortly after an early breakfast. Visiting the Tiger’s Nest is an absolute must—not only for its deep historical and spiritual significance but also for the breathtaking views and the scenic mountain trails leading to it.

In the afternoon, if time permits, we’ll have the flexibility to explore additional sights at our leisure.
Later in the evening, we’ll have the option to unwind with a traditional hot stone bath (on your own) and enjoy a delicious dinner at a local farmhouse (Optional)

Today marks the end of our unforgettable 11-day journey through Bhutan. Our team will accompany you to Paro International Airport to bid you a warm farewell. Though we part ways, we hope you leave with a heart full of cherished memories from your 11 days in the Kingdom of Bhutan.
