Detailed Itinerary

Experience the refreshing air, pristine surroundings, and serene atmosphere of Paro International Airport. With its uncrowded terminals and tranquil immigration process, the airport sets the tone for a peaceful entry into Bhutan. The highlight, however, is the awe-inspiring view of the Himalayas, a sight that promises a lifetime of memories aboard Bhutan Air. Encounter the beauty of Bhutan through the warm hospitality of our staff, who embody the country’s peaceful spirit. After a welcoming ceremony, embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s serene capital city.

Upon arrival, we’ll make a brief stop at the scenic Tamchoe Iron Suspension Bridge, originally constructed in the 15th century by Thangtong Gyalpo, known as the Iron Bridge Builder (Chazampa). Afterward, we’ll head to Thimphu and check in to the serene Terma Lingkha hotel, situated just 20 minutes from the bustling city center, just in the bank of the Wang Chhu River

After enjoying a leisurely and nutritious breakfast, we will venture out to explore the city. One of the main attractions in Thimphu is the colossal Buddha Statue, crafted from Gold and Bronze, making it a must-see for families traveling together. Nature enthusiasts will delight in a relaxing stroll through the picturesque Kuenselphodrang Nature Park.

Later, we will drive to the Takins Preserve to witness Bhutan’s unique national animal, the Takin. Alongside Takins, you can spot other fascinating wildlife such as the Shambar Deer, Blue Sheep, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Yak, and Himalayan Serow.

In the afternoon, you’ll experience the charming activities at Simply Bhutan Home Museum, where you can observe the authentic Bhutanese lifestyle firsthand
Overnight and Dinner: Terma Lingka Resort

After enjoying a delightful breakfast, our journey to Punakha begins as we head towards Dochula Pass. A short 45-minute drive from Terma Lingka Resort will bring us to this scenic mountain pass, which promises to be the highlight of our day. Dochula Pass offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges, adorned with 108 stupas amidst lush greenery and the majestic backdrop of snow-capped peaks.

After enjoying a delightful farmhouse lunch, our next destination is Chemi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple. This sacred site is linked to the Divine Madman from the 15th century and is renowned for numerous stories of successful wishes for children.
Following our visit, we will check in at Densa Boutique Hotel, nestled amidst serene pine forests. This esteemed 4-star property is one of Punakha’s finest accommodations.
In the evening, guests can take a leisurely stroll along the road overlooking the resort, enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

In the morning, go for a scenic hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Temple, which typically takes about an hour for average hikers. The temple offers breathtaking views of the entire valley and the meandering gorge of Mo Chhu River.
Following our hike, for those eager to experience white-water river rafting, we’ll embark on a thrilling adventure down the river. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of nature and the graceful river birds as we leisurely raft along. This rafting experience is designed for enjoyment rather than tackling strong rapids.

We’ll delight in a picnic lunch by the riverside before exploring Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most historically significant fortress. Renowned for its exquisite wooden carvings, sacred shrines, and ancient relics, Punakha Dzong stands as a testament to the country’s rich cultural heritage and architectural splendor.

Today, we will journey to the picturesque Phobjikha Valley, a scenic drive of approximately 2 ½ hours. Known as the “mini Switzerland” of Bhutan, Phobjikha Valley serves as the winter sanctuary for the elegant Black Necked Cranes. En route, we will stop to admire the breathtaking Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, recently restored following a fire on June 24, 2012. This iconic landmark is a photographer’s paradise, offering countless opportunities to capture its beauty.

Upon arrival, we’ll settle into Gangtey Lodge, renowned as one of the finest accommodations in Phobjikha Valley. This charming 4-star property promises a cozy and delightful stay

During winter, Phobjikha Valley experiences cold temperatures, dropping to as low as -10 degrees Celsius at night and around 15 degrees Celsius during the day. However, in other seasons, the valley is pleasantly cool and visually stunning. Known as the winter habitat of black-necked cranes, with over 600 birds migrating annually from late October to February, Phobjikha also offers sightings of yaks grazing in its meadows during the harsh winter months

Today, we’ll journey back to Paro through Dochula Pass and Thimphu. Upon arriving in Paro, we’ll check in at Hotel Lee Meridian. Later in the evening, we’ll explore the charming Paro Town, browsing for souvenirs. Take this day to relax and prepare for an early morning hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery tomorrow

For the Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike, starting early is recommended. The hike typically takes about 2 ½ hours for average hikers to ascend to the temple, and another 2 ½ hours to descend. Allow approximately an hour for exploring the monastery’s interior. After approximately 2 hours of navigating mountain terrain, you’ll reach the highest point at 3,075 meters above sea level. From there, a descent of 465 steps leads to a waterfall, with railings for safety. Finally, there’s a climb of 200 steps up to the monastery itself.

Upon reaching the temple entrance, there is a security checkpoint where cameras and backpacks are not permitted. These belongings must be deposited in provided lockers. Your guide will handle registration and entry fee tickets at the police counter. Visitors can explore 8 shrine rooms, with the essential ones including Guru Drubkhang (meditation room), Guru Sungjem (statue of Guru shrine), and Langchen Pelgi Sangye chorten (wish-fulfilling stupa)
