Detailed Itinerary

The border gateway, Phuentsholing is located right next to the Indian state of Jaigon in an elevation of 293 m asl. The journey begins with the breathtaking journey on roads surrounded by the lush green tea plantation with the amazing views of the Himalayan foothills.

Soon after our arrival we will process for our e-route permits at immigration office. With the new travel protocols we also need to pay SDF of 1200 Rs. per person per night directly at immigration counter.

After our Lunc we will start our drive to Thimphu crossing the high hills of Gedu in Chukha. Chukha is a hot and wet region which is blessed with dense suptropical forest. This place is best visited in the month of winter.

In the evening we will check in to our hotel at Thimphu.

Overnight: Hotel Amodhara

 

After our breakfast we will visit the giant Buddha Statue which is 169ft tall, made out of gold and bronze and said to be the biggest seated Buddha Statue in his Bhumisprasha Mudra (Earth Witnessing).

We will also visit the Royal Takins Reserve park, where we will get to see the unique national animal of Bhutan. Later in the afternoon, we will start our journey to Punakha via the most beautiful motorable pass of Bhutan Known as Dochula Pass. From Dochula You could see 180 Degrees view so of eastern Himalayas which one of the highest unclimbed mountain in the world known as Gangkar Puenseum with 7350 meters above the sea level.

Later in the evening, we can hike to the most historical temple of fertility, where you get to see lot of phallus painting and carving.

We will drive to Trongsa, the very important ancestral home for our Kings. Trongsa Dzong is by far the  most important historical and largest castle in Bhutan.

Very few people would get an opportunity to visit this fortress of Trongsa, therefore we consider ourselve the most fortunate to be here.

Above the Dzong there is a ‘Ta’ Dzong the ancient watch tower which was converted into a national museum from the year 1968. It holds a fascinating collection of the finest speciemens of bhutnaese art, masterpieces of bronze statues, and paintings. Among all the valuable antique displayed in the musesum, the Original Raven Crown is one the most ot see inside this museum.

Later we will walk around the small Trongsa town.

 

Overnight: Yangkil Resort

Altitude: 1900m

After our early breakfast, we will start our drive to Bumthang Valley, in the central Bhutan, which is known as mini Switzerland in Bhutan. The drive to Bumthang is beautiful with the newly made road.

Today we will make more pictures stops around the highway with beautiful views. In the afternoon, we will take you to the Jakar Dzong, the most historical fortress in the valley literary known as the Castle of the white bird. Jambay Lhakhang, is the oldest temple in Bhutan in fact, it remarks the history of Buddhism in Bhutan from 659 AD.

Evening we will stroll around the small Bumthang town.

 

Overnight: Hotel Valley View

Altitude: 2600m | 8530 feet asl

Today after breakfast, we will explore the valley of  Bumthang. Bumthang Valley is a spiritual heartland in Bhutan.

we will visit lot of historical temples and monastery in Bumthang. Frist we will start from the oldest temple in Bhutan i.e Jambay Lhakhang. We will visit Kurje Lhakhang, which was blessed by Guru Padmasambhava.

Overnight: Hotel Valley View

In the morning we will drive up to the most beautiful valley of Bhutan, popularly known as Valley of the black Neck Cranes. The picturesque and the peaceful Phobjikha valley is a huge U – shaped glacial valley located against a background of the Black Mountain range of Bhutan.

We will also visit the Buddhist Monastery and start our Hike down the valley of cranes. The trail is refreshing and enjoyable downhill easy hike.

At the end we will visit the farm house for experiencing the farm life. We will also stop at Khewang Lhakhang, the most important temple of the valley.

Overnight: Dewachen Hotel

Altitude: 2900m | 9514 feet asl

In the morning we will check out from the hotel and head towards Haa Valley via Chelela Pass in Paro, which is in fact the highest motorable pass in Bhutan.

On the way we will also enjoy the most breathtaking view of the Himalayas from Dochula Pass.

In the evening we will try Hot Stone Bath at our home stay.

Overnight: Kinley Homestay

In the morning we will visit Lhakhang Karpo, the historical monastery in Haa Valley. We will also stroll around the small Haa Town.

Later in the afternoon, we will retrace our journey back to Paro.

Overnight: Hotel Reema Resort

Today we will have the most interesting hike to the iconic Buddhist temple in Bhutan known as Tiger’s nest Monastery. This monastery was built in 1692 but the history of the foundation has started as early as 746 AD by Guru Padmasambhava.

It is 2 ½ Hours Hike uphill to the temple. The Tiger’s nest base is about 2340 meter asl and the highest point is 3050 meters above the sea level and the temple is at the height of 3000 meters approximately.

It is always nice to start early morning to catch the morning sunrise behind the temple’s cliffs. Therefore you should start early morning.

Later in the evening you can try hot stone bath, which is good for joint pains and muscle crumbs.

Today we will drive down to Phuentsholing from Paro with some beautiful picture stop on the way.

We will Exit on the same day to India.
